We are having problems sending email via our supplier using smart host as Xeams is not issuing a QUIT command at the end of the transaction. Is this something we have the ability to change? Our server is 'Ratelimiting' us - this is their response: " The issue is that the mail server is not following RFC standards and is not issuing a QUIT command where it should, therefore our mail server is seeing more and more connections without a quit command being issued (or the connection timing out) therefore the server will then prevent further connections from being made. Dear Steve, Xeams always sends a QUIT command. You should be able to confirm this by looking at SMTPOutboundConversation.log file. If the receiving end is not seeing this QUIT command, ensure a proxy server/firewall/router in-between is not changing this behavior.

Many thanks for your reply. That's what I would have thought too. It appears that the SMTPOutboundConversation.log file only has details of incoming emails and not the communication with the smart host. Is there anywhere else I should be looking? If I could send the mail host proof they may remove the rate limits. Thanks, Steve |
