Hi,

I hadn't received any e-mail on my Exchange server today and after sending a test e-mail from a web based mail system, I received an immediate error back "550 No such user here - AD".  I checked the Xeams logs and noticed that Xeams upgraded in the early hours of the morning to build 5958 and no mail was received after that time.  After a bit of troubleshooting, I managed to get incoming mail working again by disabling the "Reject Invalid Users" option in the "Active Directory Integration" configuration.

Has something changed or broken with this build which prevents incoming mail when the "Reject Invalid Users" option is enabled?  I'd really like to have this option enabled.

Regards,

Cameron

We found the root cause of the problem. It occurs when you use SMTP Proxy Server and use AD to validate users AND local domain is not added in SMTP Server. There are two ways to fix it.

  • Method 1: Go to SMTP Configuration under Server Configuration, click on Domain tab and ensure your local domains are listed in here. These are your email domains, not AD domain. For example:

    Domain Name: yourdomain.com
Forward To: <IP Address of you Exchange>
    Active Directory: Default

  • Method 2: Visit http://xeams.com/ManuallyPatching.htm and manually patch Xeams again. You will be downloading build 5959.

Thanks for finding the issue and coming up with a fix so quickly.

I performed Method 2 and can confirm that after manually patching Xeams to build 5959 and re-enabling the "Reject Invalid Users" option in the "Active Directory Integration" configuration that incoming mail is flowing once again.

Cheers!

Cameron,

Even though the problem is fixed on your end, I strongly recommend adding your local domains as described in method 1. Xeams needs to know what your local domains are. This information is used in other locations within the system and is essential.

Thanks for this recommendation.  As I'm running Xeams in Firewall mode with the SMTP proxy server, I wasn't aware that I actually needed to configure anything in the regular SMTP configuration section.

I have now added my local domain (not AD domain) as per method 1 and have it pointing to the second IP address on the same server (MS Exchange) and all appears to be running well.
