I am having hard time uninstalling Xeams, the service wont stop or remove when doing so from the App Center. Is there a way to remove it manually ?

Hi I have the same problem, can not remove or stop an application on Qnap 453A (v. 4.3.4.0537).

Is there any manual solution for remove Xeams from QTS?

Hi,

Please use the following guideline to remove Xeams from QNAP. Note that there are two packages for QNAP:

1. One that is downloaded from Xeams' website (http://xeams.com/XeamsDownload.htm)
2. Another that comes with QNAP

Although the instructions for removing should be identical for both, we have only tested the following with the QNAP package that is downloaded from our website. The following steps assume you have already tried uninstalling Xeams from QNAP's web interface and it failed.

QNAP puts files belonging to Xeams in two locations:

1. InstallDir - thsi is usually /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/Xeams . Remove this entire folder.
2. QNAP's packaging confg. QNAP holds the list of Apps in /etc/config/qpkg.conf. This file is in Windows INI format - meaning you will see a section for every installed app starting with square brackets. For example, the section for Xeams will start from [Xeams]. Remove the entire section belonging to Xeams. This will cleanup QNAP's web interface.

Where do i go about locating these folders and deleting them?

I too would like to know this...it looks like the directory structure is now hidden or protected? 

There are two versions of Xeams for QNAP:

1. The one you download from our website
2. One that comes with QNAP

The one that comes with QNAP installs Xeams inside a container. In that case, the actual file is inside the container and therefore, files could be inside the Container package, which is usually /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/Container folder. If you installed the package downloaded from our site, look into /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/Xeams

You can ssh into your qnap by using the following command:

ssh admin@ipAddressToYourNAS

enter the password. 

cd to the directories mentioned in their instruction.

rm -rf Xeams removes the app folder

simply vi the qpkg.conf and find the {Xeams} and delete everything associated with it. 

remember to :wq

I used FTP to login to my QNAP as ADMIN and I was able to delete all folders and modify configutation file so XEAMS is now gone from my QNAP server. 

Did that. 
Now every now and then I get this message:

java.io.FileNotFoundException: config/UpdateAvailable.txt (No such file or directory)

Does it matter if the JRE (8.151.2.1) is installed in a different storage pool?

I had it that way and I ran into same problem as described by others above. No browser contact. (There was a message "JRE QPKG not installed" while installing Xeams. It was however declared as "installed and ready to use" at the end of installation.

Stopping the app does not succeed - it returns to a status where the blue "Open" choice is available.

Removal of the app fails.

Migrating the JRE QPKG to the same storage pool was no remedy (will see tomorrow when the NAS has restarted if a restart rectified the situation).

(Previous entry in the thread suggests there might be something more to do to tidy up?)

The QNAP is a TS-832X.

QNAP keeps a list of installed packages in /etc/config/qpkg.conf . Sometimes you have to manually remove the entries for an uninstall app from this file to ensure it is completely removed. Look for Xeams in this file and remove it if you have already uninstalled it.

Also, ensure files are removed from /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/Xeams and then reinstall.

After these measures the administration interface poped up:

1. Migrating the JRE to the system volume (at installation it was installed at a different volume in a different storage pool)

2. Restarting the NAS.

I did step 1 before step 2, so it is perhaps an unnecessary action.

Perhaps it's for Xeams design to check whethetr JRE must be on the same volume.
