Hello,

I have installed Xeams (v4.3.567b1) on my NAS (Qnap TVS871t) from AppCenter (OS - QTS4.2.2). Xeams worked properly after installation.

But when i tried to update it automatically/manually - i have done it several times, after update process had finished and server restarted - Xeams didn't started any more.

I have checked log files.

Xeam's log file after update the program. There is the line:

"2016-09-27 16:32:15,759 INFO  xeams.ServerStarter - Received message to terminate Rules Engine from unknown"

"starterOul.log". There are two lines with errors:
"ERROR: ERROR: Please edit the example config file /etc/config/clamd.conf"
"ERROR: ERROR: Can't open/parse the config file /etc/config/clamd.conf"

I am looking for support to resolve this problem.

Thank you in advance.

Dear Kolsov,

The most probable cause of this problem is Xeams inability to restart. Is "java" in your system PATH? If not, you will have to modify $INSTALL_DIR\config\AppConfig.xml file and change the parameter vmPath so it reflects the absolute path where Java is installed.

Dear Imran,

Is this syntax correct?

<vmPath>/share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/JRE/jre/bin/java<vmPath>

Thanks a lot

Sergey,

Looks good to me. You MUST be able to restart Xeams from the web interface in order for patching to work. Therefore, after modifying the file and restarting Xeams, try restarting it again from the web interface.

AamyShan,

The Xeams package for QNAP is a bit old and needs to be manually patched in order for it to work. Here are the steps:

  • Open an SSH session to your QNAP box and go to the folder where is it installed. This patch should be something like /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/Xeams (this path is referred as $INSTALL_DIR below.
  • Stop Xeams if it is running
  • Rename $INSTALL_DIR\lib folder to something else, such as lib.old
  • Create another folder called lib.
  • Download this file and extract its contents into the newly created lib folder.
  • Copy wrapper and wrapper.jar from lib.old to the new lib folder
  • Try restarting Xeams

I'm in love with you guys. Thanks a ton! In addition to the above steps, I had to do the below two to make it work:

- Download the latest webfront.zip and replaced the existing webfront folder with the extracted folder (http://www.xeams.com/manuallypatching.htm).

- Downloaded the libwrapper.so into the lib folder as per Arjan's advice in this post (http://www.xeams.com/app?operation=forum&st=viewOneArticle&id=1617#b1617)

Cheers!

Any QNAP users trying to upgrade with the above instructions, one more thing to do:

- The JRE folder in the Xeams installation folder also needs to be upgraded.

The Xeams support were simply awesome. Very professional, friendly, smart and they solved my issues over the phone in an amazing way.

Cheers!

Hello AamyShan,

Sorry to be a bit slow, but could you elaborate on how to do this? Do I just copy files from elsewhere, or is there some other install that needs to be done?

I'm just about to update my Qnap (to QTS 4.3.3) and have spent the last few hours looking for a solution to the Xeams problem, so I was really pleased to find this discussion - thanks to everyone who has contributed on here, it's been extremely helpful.

Cheers!!

I followed all the instructions on my QNAP TS-253 Pro, with QTS 4.2.3,set all the permissions to run by admin and the result that Xeams failed to start and the wrapper.log reports

jre/bin/java: error while loading shared libraries: libdl.so.2: wrong ELF class: ELFCLASS32

IS this the mix with the OS supporting libraries or what else ...

Please advice.
