Hi all!

The search function of this forum really suck, so pardon me if this question has already been asked.

In Message Repository -> Action Management (message action), is it possible to add on Spam messages "Quarantine and forward" and then send it to the orginal recipient?

I wondered if the "Change subject" the function is what I am looking for, but I cannot test on the live system before a general IMAP-rule is up and running.

Regards. LW

Hest,

Yes, Change Subject is what you need. In this case, messages will go to the original recipient with a modified subject line. They can then put the message in a separate folder if they wish.

Thank you for the reply, I have tested it out and with a global IMAP move-rule with [SPAM]-tag worked very well, thank you!

I saw your new option with "Spam Learner Address", that feature is really cool!

Could I suggest a "Not Spam Learner Address" and "Whitelist Sender Learner Address" also?

If a user got a wrongfully spam and you can just forward it to rebrand from spam to good. If admin wanted you could open for a simple "add to whitelist" interface without going out of the mail program :)

Best regards. LW

Dear Hest,

Yes, this is a neat idea and we did consider adding this along with "Spam Learner Address". However, we decided not to do it (at least not right away) because 99% of our users will not benefit from this feature. I say that because most users quarantine their junk and get a daily report allowing them to restore messages from this report. Since they won't get junk all the way to their email client, they won't be able to forward them.

Your case is a bit different because you have configured Xeams to change the subject instead of quarantine, allowing the email to reach user's inbox in a different folder. We will implement this in a future release.

An FYI: are you using IMAP in Xeams? If yes, moving a message from Inbox to Junk or from Junk to Inbox automatically updates rules in Xeams. It will update Bayesian as well as put the sender among the buddy list for the user. This however, requires you use IMAP in Xeams.

Hi,

Great that you liked the idea :)

I run the Xeams small scale, and have only my family to criticize the setup.

The setup is a hMailserver that has been running since forever, and Xeams as a proxy between.
I created a rule in hMailserver to move every message tagged [SPAM] to a own folder on inbound.

My wife said this about the setup;
1. I don't want to wait until midnight to see what Xeams catch as spam; therefore directly deliver all mails directly. (Like Gmail does)
2. Why do I need to leave my mail client to handle spam/ham? She pointed out the steps; login to site, find the same mail again and then handle it... Too many operations (lazy, I know:))

Of course she has a point, by implement an e-mail interface a user quick way to correct mistakes.
I don't know how big companies uses Xeams, but you could easy add a plugin with junk/not junk buttons that just forward the selected e-mail.
A Thunderbird plugin is something I could make, if that feature is available.

Cheers!
