Hi,

I copied a large mail archive from a local IMAP server to Xeams on my QNAP NAS.

The mail import wizard worked well except it overwrote the date/times of the emails with the current date/time.

Is there any way to preserve the original date/times during the import process?

Thanks

Glenn,

The date of the email is recorded in two places:

  • The Date header in the email
  • The time when the email is received by the SMTP server

Most email clients use the header value in their GUI.

When you import emails via IMAP, the second value is set to the current time because there is no way for Xeams to know when that email was received via SMTP on your original server.

Regardless, the client should use the Date header and ignore the time the message was received by the email system.

Which email client are you using?
